urope, the Middle East and Russia. In addition to traveling the globe, and raising 3 children, Ruth participated in many international golf and bridge tournaments. In 1980, after Bob's retirement, they returned to the US, living in Washington State and California, before settling back in Ruth's home state of Iowa, (Ringsted, then Emmetsburg). After her husband's death in 2007, Ruth returned to Ringsted, enjoying living in the town where she grew up, and helping her daughter Leslie at her art store. In 2011, due to declining health, she made a final move to live with her son's family near Vancouver, British Columbia. Ruth was a woman of strong faith and commitment to Christ, and active in church. She was known for her spunky spirit, endless energy, kind heart and generosity. To relax, she enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage and svensel; golfing; mastering crosswords; playing Chinese checkers (usually winning!); and always had a jigsaw puzzle going. Having lived a full life, Ruth passed away December 16th at home in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, at the age of 88. Preceding Ruth in death were her husband of 60 years, Robert; her parents; sister, Georgia; and brothers Roy and Lawrence. Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her children: Theresa Arney (Glen Burnie, MD); Christopher (Kristine) Arney (Surrey, BC Canada); Leslie (Kennith) Lowery (Rochester, MN); seven grandchildren: Heather (Tim); Nathanael (Rachel); Zachary (Jennifer); Noah (Trista); Clare; Mesha (Jeff) and Tanuel (David); seven great grandchildren: Jeffery, Christian, Annalise, Samantha, Joshua, Logan and Benjamin, and other family and friends. Much loved, she will be much missed.
