Irmgard Emily Pingel

Irmgard E. Pingel, at the age of 102, formerly of Fort Dodge, joined her Savior on Friday, April 18, 2014, at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee. A service honoring Irmgard's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Services have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Irmgard is survived by her sons, Gary Brian (Kate) Pingel of Waukee; Randall of Gulfport, Miss.; daughter-in-law Jean Pingel; five grandchildren, Jeff, Steve, Brad, Greg and Chris; one great grandchild Mike; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, two sons, Harlan and Duane, three grandchildren, Mike, David and Karel, and three siblings, Eric, Lillie and Elsie. Later, Irmgard was a dental assistant for Dr. Truman Anderson until her retirement. Irmgard was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved with Hannah Circle and the caregivers group which visited and volunteered in care centers. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for large family gatherings. Irmgard treasured time spent with family and friends. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church Organ Restoration Fund.
