Elvina Jane "Peggy" Brown

Elvina Jane "Peggy" Brown, 80, of Burlington died Wednesday, October 15, 2009, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 15, 1929 in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of John E. and Anna C. Nelson Poggemiller. On March 14, 1948 she married Earl G. Brown in West Hill United Methodist Church in Burlington. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2005. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Brown enjoyed flowers, roller skating and crocheting. Survivors include two sons, Russell E. (Mary) Brown and David M. Brown both of Burlington; one daughter, Theresa A. Roberts of Menifee, California; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Marty Brown, Molly Brown, Christopher Jones, Stacy Roberts, Angela Roberts, Alicia Brown, Michael Brown, Kelly Rice, Trenton Brown and Sabrina Brown; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, DeWayne E. (Margie) Poggemiller of rural Burlington and two sisters, Edith A. Neff of Burlington and Esther V. (Jim) Witte of Lake Havasu, Arizona. Her husband; daughter, Anna E. ily will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20th, in Lunning Chapel. The procession will leave the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Brown will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20th, in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Trevor Davis will officiate. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
