Leah M. Meyers, 92, of Webster City passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Southfield Wellness Community, where she had been loved and well taken care of as a resident since July 2006. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 1:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Pastor Michael Slininger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Leah Mae Kennedy, daughter of George Otto and Margaret Brill Kennedy was born January 20, 1922 in Kamrar. She received her education in Kamrar and graduated in 1939. Having played on the girl's basketball team that went to the state tournament, her love for sports continued to be a big part of her life. She married Donald H. Meyers on October 13, 1940 at Kamrar. Leah worked as a housekeeper and for Hahne Printing before becoming a stay at home mother. After the girls were in school, she worked for Montgomery Wards and Westervelt's Shoe Store. Jamie Garvey, Ryan Youngdale, Regan Dawson, Maria Mechaelsen, Marco Trujillo and Monica Trujillo; 18 great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; five step great-great grandchildren; sisters, Faye Buckels of Mason City, Donna Hamre of Paw Paw, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; brothers, Evan and Robert Kennedy; and sister, Theda Johnson. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and helped with the funeral committee. She was an active member of the hospital auxiliary where she helped with the magazines and was known by many as the Magazine Lady.
