Eugenia Greaves, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Florida Medical Center under the care of Vitas Hospice. She would have celebrated her 100th Birthday in November.
Born in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, West Indies on November 22, 1914, first daughter of Beatrice (Sutton) and Nathaniel Greaves. Raised and educated in St. Ann Parish, Miss Greaves migrated to the United States in 1969, first settling in Florida then moving to Brooklyn, New York where she lived for many years. Before her retirement in 1985, for many years she worked as a housekeeper at the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn. Following her retirement, she moved to Fort Lauderdale.
Survived by her 3 loving children, Winston and his wife Patricia Kennedy, Dorothy Johnson and Jennifer Olivene Freckleton, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, Caleb Greaves and sister, Jeff Maude Greaves-Morris.
Visitation on Saturday, May 10th from 10 A.M. ~ 11:00 A.M. at the First Alliance International Church, 900 SW 31st Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Glenn Wanless officiating...[more]
