Alice M. Horsman

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 7th at the Mallard United Methodist Church. Burial is in Washington Cemetery, Havelock. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the church in Mallard. Alice was born February 16, 1924, to Otto and Hazel (Wright) Keerbs at Havelock, IA, where she spent her growing up years. After graduating from Havelock High School in 1941, she worked at the Havelock Bank. In 1944, Alice was united in marriage to Keith Horsman. This was during WWII, and Keith was serving in the United States Navy. Following the war and Keith's discharge, the couple began farming in the Plover area before moving to the Mallard area in 1957. In 1975, they moved to the century farm west of Plover. Alice was always active in the Mallard United Methodist church where she taught Sunday School for many years, served as church board vice-chairman and chairman as well as UMW president and circle officer. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served several offices including Worthy Matron. She very much enjoyed the coffee groups that she belonged to. mily. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, Alice passed away at the Emmetsburg Care Center. Left to cherish her memory are her children: JoAnn (Glen) Christen of Marshalltown, Darryl (Carol) Horsman of Bonita Springs, FL, Shari Horsman of St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law, Wendy (Pat) Horsman-Joynt of Mallard; five grandchildren: Brian (Sara) Horsman of Golden, CO, David (Andrea) Horsman of Roseville, MN, Jennifer (Scott) Criqui of Apple Valley, MN , Katlin Horsman of Emmetsburg and Jackson (Mary) Horsman of Emmetsburg; nine great-grandchildren: Connor, Zachary and Thomas Horsman of Golden, CO, Sydney and Natalie Horsman of Roseville, MN, Isabel, Maya and Callahan Criqui of Apple Valley, MN, and Steven Horsman of Emmetsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; son, Steven; and two brothers, Roland and Vincent Keerbs.
