Sister Jeanne Marie Roche, R.S.M.

Sister Jeanne Marie Roche, R.S.M., age 82, of Johnston and formerly of Colo, Iowa, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo, with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Nevada. The Reverends Rick Dagit and John Herzog will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Born March 23, 1932, on the home farm north of Colo, Iowa, Jeanne was the daughter of Frank Martin and Frances Josephine (Balloun) Roche. She graduated from Colo High School in 1949, then furthered her education at AIB in Des Moines. Jeanne earned her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE, and her master's degree from Marquette University in Marquette, WI. She entered Sisters of Mercy of the Americas on September 8, 1954, and celebrated 60 years as a Sister.
