Jake Kroll, 93, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. He was born on April 22, 1921 in Grundy County, Iowa, to Evert and Margaret (Sherman) Kroll. Jake attended rural country schools. He was united in marriage to Esther Menning on December 29, 1946, in Swaledale, Iowa. Jake farmed until he retired in 1990. He was previously on the Dumont Elevator Board. Jake was a lifelong member of the Hansell United Methodist Church until they closed and then became a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sports, bowling, playing cards, watching his grandchildren's activities, was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved spending time with his family. Jake is survived by his wife Esther Kroll of Dumont, daughter Margaret (Bill) Moore of Plymouth, daughter Kathy (Bill) Burman of Dumont, grandchildren David (Kathy) Moore, Scott Moore, Holly (Chuck) Rich, Michael (Jennifer Nekvinda) Moore, Kelli (Ed) Noveshen, Kelsey (Chris) Ford, Kacey Burman, Stephanie (Kaleb) Kloetzer and Kimberly Burman, great-grandchildren Amanda (Cory Long) Rich, Jonathan Rich, Sarah Rich, Daniel Rich, Zachary Moore, Alex Moore, Addison ...[more]
d, Henryk Ford and soon to be baby boy Kloetzer, great great-granddaughter Avia Long, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
