Donald and Wanda enjoyed spending their winters in South Texas for the last 27 years and also spent the months of May and / or June fishing in Northern Minnesota for over 30 years. Having been raised on a farm, Don was an avid gardener. Donald worked for US Gypsum in the early 50's and had a long career with Hormel's in Fort Dodge being hired November 21, 1953, working in the sausage department and retiring in 1984. He then was employed by the Fort Dodge School District as a bus driver from 1984 through 1987. He was affectionately known as "Ole", or "Cue Ball" by close friends and family. Don was born on June 11, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda; son Myron (Toye Sue) of Denton, TX; daughters Barbara (Don) Sternquist of Roscoe, IL, Pati (Russell) Lamborn of Troutdale, OR, Janice (Richard) Escobedo of Sanger, TX and Sheryl (Walter) Wachter of Colorado Springs, CO; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Frances Oleson; his brother Raymond "Bud" Oleson; sisters Dorothy Merrill and Gertrude Emerick and two grandchildren. Don was a very kind and giving person, touching many lives and hearts making the world a better place for us all.
