Silvina (Boronat) Cata, 84, of Hollywood, Florida formerly of Elizabeth, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Born in Santiago, Cuba on December 22, 1929, daughter of Wenseslao and Belen (Escalante) Boronat. Silvina was raised in Jiguani, Cuba and educated in Havana. On August 13, 1968, she and her family came to Miami, Florida and then settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey where the family lived for many years. Before her retirement at age 62, Silvina worked as a nurse's aide at Woods Manor Nursing Home in New Jersey.
In 1980, she retired to Hollywood, Florida where she lived up until her passing. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed camping, visiting Key West and traveling.
Survived by her loving children, Mayra Cata, Silvina (Stevan) Poveda and Carlos Cata, adored grandchildren, Orlando, Frank, Michael, Daniel, Nicole, Michael-David and Gabriel. Also survived by eight great grandchildren, Jacob, Sade, Joelle, Carlos-Miguel, Isabella, Faith, Penelope and Lucas. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Carlos Cata in 2005.
