John M. Miller, 85, of Hampton, Iowa, formerly of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. He was born on August 1, 1928, on a farm in Grundy County, Iowa, to Jake and Hattie (Schipper) Miller. John graduated from Dike High School. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Meyer on August 27, 1949, at the Holland Christian Reformed Parsonage. John worked at Rath Packing during High School, farmed in Grundy County starting in 1956 and then moved to Hampton in 1976, where he started an insurance agency. He was a member of First Christian Church in Hampton, was an avid sportsman, enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a Chicago Cubs fan and most of all was a loving husband, father and grandfather. John is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Phyllis Miller of Hampton, son James Miller and wife Anne of Wabasha, Minnesota and their children Emily and Tony, son Terry Miller of St. Charles, Iowa, son Tim Miller and wife Kelli of Owatonna, Minnesota, and their daughter Mackenzie and step-children Jeff, Michelle and Amber and sister Ann (Delbert) Meyer of Grundy Center.
