Kenneth Dean Mente

Kenneth Mente, 87, of Tipton, died peacefully in his home on August 19, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014, First United Church of Christ with the Rev. David Lorenzen and Rev. Paul Fredericksen officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday between the hours of 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. A memorial fund has been established in his memory for the Heartland Sports Complex. Kenneth, son of Henry Carl and Emma Elizabeth Kahl Mente, was born on August 3, 1927 in Lowden, Iowa. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1944. On February 15, 1948, Kenneth was united in marriage to Betty Jean Stakey in St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence. Kenneth farmed southeast of Tipton and was a current member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Marcey Fahrenholtz of Plymouth, MN; sons, Mark, Michael, Mickey, Marty and Murry Mente, all of Tipton; 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Beer of Iowa City, Genevieve Meier and Geraldine Reeve both of Tipton.
