aking homemade ice cream for Keg Creek Days. Delbert always found time to enjoy tractor rides, especially on his "Massey Harris". He enjoyed working around on the farm with equipment and especially enjoyed welding. Delbert always enjoyed going to the Mineola Steakhouse and Joes Tess's. Most of all the love of his life was the Mineola Fire Department. He retired from the fire department after 67 years of service. People would often see Delbert driving or riding around in his pickup truck, seeing the sights, but most of all he enjoyed visiting with family and friends. According to BD (Delbert) he led a good life and would not change a thing. Delbert was a man of few words and he loved hugs and kisses and we will miss giving them. Delbert passed away on September 5, 2014 at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 88 years and 4 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Trina Heitmann, brothers, John Heitman, Alfred Heitmann, and Marvin Heitmann; and sister, Linda Heitmann Comeau. Delbert is survived by niece, Joyce (Ardon) Toelle of Arlington, Nebraska and family; nephews, Kenny (Beth) Heitman and family, Dean Heitman and family all of Glenwood, Iowa, and Bill (Cheryl) Heitmann and family of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and host of special friends.
