Geraldine "Sug" (Owen) Massa, 85, of Wellington, Florida, formerly of Hallandale Beach, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, John A. Massa and his wife Rose Massa, where she resided for the past three and one half years.
She was born on September 29, 1928, in Columbus, Mississippi, daughter of Samuel R. and Lela (McCollum) Owen. Raised and educated in Columbus, "Sug" as she was affectionately known, was a true Southern Belle, moving with her family to Miami at age of 17. In 1946, Sug married the late Eddie Massa and raised their family in Miami. Eddie formerly ran The Diplomat Hotel for 50 years. Sug loved to entertain, dance, cook for her family and friends and long walks along the beach.
Her beloved husband of 60 years, Edmund W. Massa died in 2006. Survived by her three children, Edmund "Chip" (Barbara) Massa, Brenda (Phil) Massa Piccione and John (Rose) Massa, four grandchildren, Scott, Patrick, Danny, Diane and 9 great grandchildren.
