Elsa L. Cunningham

Elsa Luceil Cunningham was born February 6, 1919, at Algona, Iowa to Rea and Hazel (Krantz) Hutchison. Elsa graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1935, and attended Gates Business College in Waterloo for two years. She worked as a legal secretary in Waterloo. She married Ray Cunningham on February 6, 1941, in Waterloo. Ray and Elsa farmed near Waterloo from 1946 - 1949, when the family moved north of Sexton and farmed until 1979. In 1977, they moved into Algona. Elsa became a resident of Van Buren Terrace in Algona in November 2012, and died at the Kossuth Regional Health Center on Sunday afternoon, September 7, 2014 at the age of 95. Elsa was a member of Doan United Methodist Church until transferring her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Algona. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Algona Chapter 68, Iowa Federated Women's Club since 1949, and the Algona Garden Club. Elsa enjoyed reading, playing cards/games and traveling. Elsa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray in 2002, brother Robert and sisters Eveline Asa Spencer, Betty McCright, Kathryn Peterson, Mary Vogt Hoerst and Great Grandson, Caden Harms.
