Charles H. Basford

McFarland- Charles "Chuck/Chick" Henry Basford, age 68, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014. He was born on November 28, 1945 in Portland, Maine. Chuck graduated from South Portland High School and attended Ottawa University in Kansas and the University of Maine in Portland. He served in the Naval Reserves during the sixties and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. Chuck graduated from College of Lake County in Computer Science. He was the owner of Associated Business Consultants. Chuck enjoyed following current events, curling, bocce and golf with his friends and family. He was a member of Lions Clubs International and served on committees for the village of McFarland. Chuck was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox, whose teams gave him several championships during his lifetime. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Holly (née Klein); his three children, Heidi (William) Kerkhof of Oshkosh, Michael (Sarah) Basford of Madison and Kathryn (Steven) Bavery of Edgerton; and his eight grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Carolyn, Frances and Michaela Kerkhof, Kyle, Tyler and Cole Bavery. Alan (Roseann) Basford of Richmond, Illinois; sister Mary (Phil) Meserve of Scarborough, Maine; nephews, Ed, Jon and Charles Meserve; and nieces, Jessica and Tricia Basford. He was preceded in death by his father, Basil and his mother, Carolyn. A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate Chucks life, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, today, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland.
