Gus Mackey

Gus Mackey was born on July 13, 1933 in Baker County, Georgia, to the late Amos Mackey and the late Ruther Williams Mackey. Gus was the fourth child of nine children. He was preceded in death by his three sons: Willie Lewis Mackey, Leroy Mackey, and Carl Dennis Mackey; his grandson Brian Daniel Mackey; and his two older brothers: Joe L Mackey and Aaron Mackey. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Rosa Mae Oliver on December 6, 1953. To this union three sons were born. After marrying, Gus and his wife relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1953. He worked for the City of Fort Lauderdale for 10 years before starting his own business, "Gus Mackey and Sons Landscaping" in 1963. His belief was Jehovah Witness. Gus was always happy and was always one to try to help a person in need. He loved to play golf and won lots of golfing trophies. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed playing cards and watching the local sports teams: Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and Miami Heat. He and his wife had lots of fun traveling around the country.
