he read over 1000 books from the Iowa Commission for the Blind. The loss of her sight affected her participation but she also enjoyed playing bridge, needlepoint and crochet, cooking, watching baseball, the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs, and most of all her loving family. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Vance of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Jim (Candice) Becker of Mt. Pleasant and Bill (Cynthia) Becker of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Amy Steinberg, Marc (Jessica) Steinberg, AJ Becker, Cameron Becker, Dillon Becker, Lydia Becker, and Alexander Becker; two step-grandchildren, Tom (Morgan) Vance and Patrick Vance; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kieran and Asher; and one sister Valeria Thrasher of Earling, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Leroy, Bud, Leonard, and Irvin, and sisters, Irene Bixenman and Evie Sanders. The funeral for Mrs. Becker will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Church in Mt. Pleasant. Father Joseph Phung will officiate. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the church after 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, with a prayer vigil at 6:00 PM and a Celebration of Memories at 6:30 PM. Memorials have been established to the St. Alphonsus Altar and Rosary and St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus. Elliott Chapel, New London is in charge of arrangements.
