JOAN THUMANN MUSCATINE, Iowa - Joan E. Thumann, 69, of Muscatine, died on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church. Reverend Don Swanson will officiate. A time of food and fellowship will be held following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice Program or University of Iowa Cancer Research. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joan was born on November 22, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar and Mary Sayers Lawver. She retired from the Cedar County Sheriff's Department and later from MUSCO Sports Lighting. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved to cook, go camping, fishing, hunting, and do crafts. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Mary Jo Ohren of Orange Park, Florida, Terry Thumann and wife, Leia, of Walcott, Bill Thumann and wife, Angie, of Cedar Rapids, Paula Wilker of Cedar Rapids, and Jason Thumann of Wilton; 14 grandchildren, Adrien Morris, Alexis, Jacob and Dylan Thumann, Stephen Wilker, Jennifer, Reese, Jared, Seth...[more]
