JOHNSON CREEK/MADISON - Charles "Charlie" A. Bass, age 82, passed away on Monday October 13, 2014 in Oconomowoc as a result of his injuries sustained in an auto accident in Johnson Creek. Charlie was born May 27, 1932 in Madison, to the late Roger and Alva (Anderson) Bass. He is a 1950 graduate of Madison West High School. Charlie proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War on board the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea as the ship's electrician. After the Navy, he worked his way through college by working on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Charles married Linda Lindsay on July 8, 1967 in Glenwood Moravian Community Church in Madison. Charlie remained a railroad buff his whole life, and was an avid model railroader. He is a graduate of the UW Madison with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Charles worked as an industrial engineer for the JCPenney catalog division in Wauwatosa for 35 years. He was an amateur pilot and a skilled photographer who developed his own pictures. David Bass and Dianna Bisone, 3 grandchildren; Carl Muench, Vaughn Muench and Elena Bisone, siblings; Patricia (Jerry) Edgar, Roberta Stockton, Gerald (Kay) Bass, sister-in-law Jean Dudley Bass, Thomas (Deborah) Bass and Christine (David) Kilps. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John Bass, nephew Jeffrey Bass and brother-in-law Richard Stockton. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday October 18, 2014 at GLENWOOD MORAVIAN COMMUNITY CHURCH, 725 Gilmore St. with his nephew, Rev. Andrew Kilps, presiding. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Those wishing to express their sympathy with a memorial may wish to consider the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom WI.
