Boca Raton - Gay Stoner, beloved wife of Robert Stoner, died on October 22, 2014 from complications of a previous illness. She was 82.
Mrs. Stoner provided a lifetime of giving to others, from PTA to Girl Scouts to her dedication to her husband and children. While studying physical therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, she courageously volunteered be a test case for Jonas Salk's polio vaccine. She practiced physical therapy while living in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Buffalo.
Mrs. Stoner was born March 12, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA to James Crawford and Anna Lois Dunbar. Her given name was Audrey Gay Dunbar. She graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in pre-medicine. She met her husband Robert at a church event in Pittsburgh and they married May 14, 1955.
Mrs. Stoner is survived by her husband Robert Stoner; her daughter Susan Brown (Frank); her daughter Sandra Van Wormer (Philip); her daughter Sally Reandeau (David); four grandchildren Christopher Brown, Sarah B. Wester, Emily Van Wormer, and Andrew Van Wormer; and one great-grandchild Philip Brown. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Dunbar.
