George W. "Jun" Fortune, age 89, of Keokuk died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his home.
George was born March 17, 1925 in Keokuk the son of George C. and E. Fern Washburn Fortune. George was a life time resident of Keokuk and had worked with his parents before enlisting in the Army during WWII. He served with the Far Eastern Air Force in the New Guinea and later in the Southern Philippines. Following his service he married Barbara Howe on September 22, 1946 in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.
Jun and Barb worked with his parents in running Fortunes Tavern and Restaurant. They continued to operate the business after his parents passing until they retired in 1971. Jun was an avid outdoors man. He and Barb enjoyed hunting and fishing together. He was a member of the VFW and loved playing cards especially euchre. He loved people and was a people person.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
