Michele M. Venable
Michele Marlene Venable (age 53) of Hollywood, Florida died after a relatively brief battle with cancer on Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was born on July 29, 1961 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Marlene Foley Venable and Fred Venable, Jr. Michele grew up in Davenport. She graduated from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. She received her theological training at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1987. From 1987 to 1993 she served as Pastor of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, South Dakota. In September 1993 she stepped away from pastoral ministry and relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to be close to many of her family members. For the past ten years she has served as Directory of Social Services for Jubilee Center of Broward, Inc., a position she loved and suited her abilities. She was able to use her pastoral skills as well as her organizational skills and her love for people. Michele was preceded in death by her father and grandparents Virginia and Willard Foley and Melba Mapes. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at St. James in the Hills Episcopal Church, 3329 Wilson Street, Hollywood, Florida.
