Francis E. "Chickie" Serrao, age 85, of Lower Gwynedd PA, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 in Methodist Hospital Philadelphia, PA. Born in Ambler, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (nee Raffle) Serrao. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Angela Iennaco and Josephine DelPopolo. Mr. Serrao was a member of Ambler High School, Class of 1947. Frank served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to1954 during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Two Bronze Stars. Frank was an Insurance Agent. He opened the Frank E. Serrao State Farm Insurance Agency located in Ambler, PA in 1956 and retirement in 1995, leaving the Insurance Agency in the good hands of his son, Tony and daughters, Patty and Joanne. Frank served as the Ambler Boro Tax collector from 1970 to 1979. He was also a member of the former Ambler Lions Club and an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, in Ambler. He is the loving grandfather of Colleen, Erin, Kelli, Frank, Julianna, Jimmy, and Gina. He is also survived by his sister Katie Wallace (Joseph) of Telford, PA, brother, Salvatore "Sam" (Rose) Serrao of Chalfont, and Marie (Albert) Mastromatto of Ambler, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2014 to the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA 19002. A 10:30 AM Funeral Mass will be celebrated with Rev. John T. Lyons. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
