Carlie (Carl) Otis Hammond, 90, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born on November 2, 1924 to Will & Mary Sue Hammond in Lumberton, North Carolina. He was a proud member of the Lumbee Indian Tribe. He passed that heritage and pride onto his sons. He moved to South Florida as a young man but always returned to his home in Lumberton. He met and married his sweetheart, Peggy and together they had four sons. He loved to fish and travel with his family every year. Carl worked in the aluminum business and opened his own company in 1978. As he got older, three of his sons became involved in the business. Although he didn't have to, Carl still came to work several times a week to make sure things were running his way. In his later years, Carl's sons always made sure he made it back to his hometown in North Carolina. In July he vacationed in Key Largo with his four sons, eleven grandchildren and friends.
