to garden and would give away much of her harvest to family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, fishing, coon hunting, camping and weekly dancing at the Steamboat Senior Center. Her most favorite activities were looking for arrowheads and morel mushrooms. She also enjoyed giving handmade gifts to anyone she might meet. She is survived by her daughter, Tami (Tony) Hobson of Manning, SC, one sister, Lucy Cerny of Sugar Grove, IL, one sister-in-law, Velma Upton, of Lomax, IL, one grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank and Wayne Upton, and one sister, Irene Laverty. According to her wishes, the body has been cremated. Elliott Chapel in New London is in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor James Roth will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural New London. Visitation will begin after noon on Friday, December 12 at the chapel, with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
