Barbara Rose Veit

Barbara R. Veit, 80, of Brighton, Colorado, and formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday, December 26, 2014, in Colorado. Family services are pending and will be announced in the Spring of 2015. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. Barbara Rose Lindblad was born on July 31, 1934 in Atlantic, Iowa, to Clifford R. and Emma Ruth (Dunham) Lindblad. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1952, and married Ronald Eugene Veit on August 22, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2006. In their early years, Barb worked as a civilian for the US Government in Maine while Ron was stationed at the Air Force base. She then worked as the secretary for the Athletic Director of the University of Iowa for several years, telling her family of how she had Floyd of Rosedale on her desk at times and would put ribbons around his neck. While living in Maquoketa, she was the legal secretary for Roberson Law Office for many years, and later worked as the legal secretary for Peterson and Eddy Law Office in Clinton. h enabled them to travel and live in different states from Maine to California, finally settling in Colorado to be close their sons, Tom and Steve. Barb loved to read, play word games and solitaire. Most of all, Barb loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Those left to honor Barb's memory include her children Ronelle (Dean) Burmeister of Clinton, IA, Lisa (David) Woznicki of St. Charles, MO, and Steve Veit of Henderson, CO; 2 grandchildren; a brother Richard (Lona) Lindblad of Winchester, VA; and a daughter-in-law Lynette Keil-Veit of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Tyler Robert Jackson, and a son Thomas James Veit on March 19, 2011.
