Truman A. Bondhus

Truman Alfred Bondhus was born October 26, 1914 in Amo Township, Cottonwood County to the late Thomas and Carrie Bondhus. He was baptized, confirmed and was a lifetime member of Amo Lutheran Church. He attended rural school district 64 and graduated from Storden High School. He also attended Mankato Commercial College. On February 14, 1936 Truman was united in marriage to Avis Marks of Westbrook. For their entire married life they remained in the Storden area where they farmed until 1953. Truman then became manager of Westbrook Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 1979. His devoted family includes four children, Wayne Bondhus and his wife, Sharon, of Alexandria, Lee Bondhus and his wife, Harriette, of Westbrook, Larry Bondhus and his wife, Lori, of Grand Rapids, and Trudy Lohre of Monticello; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilma Ahl of Winthrop and Evelyn Spielman of Hudson, WI; and a host of friends. Truman's favorite pastimes were fishing with his family and farming. Truman passed away on Thursday morning, November 12, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society - Westbrook at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years; parents; three brothers, Ole, John and Theodore; one sister, Agnes Cohrs; and one daughter-in-law, Amy Bondhus. Blessed be the memory of Truman A.
