Malinda Abbe (Schwenn/vonHoldt), was born on November 26th, 1918, on a farm called the Six Mile House in Crawford County, Iowa, to parents Adolph Peter Hansen and Bertha Christina (Albertson) Hansen. She attended country school from 1923 to 1932. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Malinda was devout lifelong Lutheran and was very strong in her Christian faith. She married her childhood sweetheart Clarence Louis Schwenn on November 19th 1939. To this union two daughters were born, Sharon Ann and Clarian Kay. After the death of Clarence on April 19th 1965, Malinda worked at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in the kitchen from January 1966, to September 1972. She then moved to Greely Colorado and was a head cook at a local restaurant from 1972 to 1974. Malinda returned to the mid-west in 1974, and married Emil Willie vonHoldt on November 9th 1974. They resided and farmed together on Emil's farm in Round Lake, MN. Emil and Malinda "Lynn" loved to have their blended families together for any and all occasions. munity of Round Lake. Emil vonHoldt passed away on May 29th 1992. Malinda married Theodore (Ted) Hans Abbe on August 7th, 2004. Ted and Malinda lived in Round Lake for a short while, before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa. Ted and Malinda enjoyed traveling, entertaining family and friends and playing cards. Ted passed away November 15th 2009. Malinda Abbe moved into Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake in February 2008, and enjoyed crafts and card games with family, residents and staff. Malinda was preceded in death by, her parents, childhood sweetheart/ first husband, Clarence Schwenn; infant sister; brother, Bernie Hansen of Ida Grove; grandsons, John and James Fast Jr.; son-in-law, James Fast; stepson-in-law, Al Ogle; step-grandchildren, Lynn vonHoldt and Brad vonHoldt; second husband, Emil vonHoldt; brother-in-law, Bill Woebke; and her husband, Ted Abbe. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Lorraine (Walt) Woebke of Ida Grove, Iowa and Helen Woebke of Oregon; sister-in-law, Donna Mae Hansen of Ida Grove; sister-in-law, Esther (Henry) Jepsen; daughters, Sharon Ann Fast (Daniel Miller) of Manilla, Iowa, Clarian Kay Hunt (Loel) of Spirit Lake; step-children, Daryll (Linda) vonHoldt of Sarasota Florida, Betty Ogle of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Terry and Gerald Abbe and Diane Johnson all of Missouri; granddaughters, Patty (Shane) Arndt of Milford, Iowa, Candice (Dan) Getting of Spencer, Iowa, Jamie Fast of Milford, Kimberly (Rick) Wilhelms of Estherville and Rebecca Garner of Jackson; step-grandchildren, Dawn (Dan) Carkhuff, Deanna (Bob) Thacket, Don (Sheryl) Ogle, Penny Ogle and Floyd Ogle all of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Lori (Tony) Gerads of South Dakota, Kevin (Lisa) vonHoldt of Colorado, and Troy (Erin) vonHoldt of Minnesota; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many step great and great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9th, at 11:00am at Crawford Heights Memory Garden, in the Lutheran section, Denison Iowa. The Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake MN.
