Gloria F. Edwards, 89, of Keokuk, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at West Point Care Center in West Point, Iowa. Gloria was born on August 27, 1925, to Nathen and Madilene Nelson Walgren in Keokuk, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Delbert L. Edwards on November 7, 1943, in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1982. Gloria was a life-long resident of Keokuk and a member of the First Lutheran Church in Keokuk, in which she was very active teaching Bethel classes, acting as treasurer, and volunteering. She was employed at the Daily Gate City for fifteen years and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers and the Keokuk Coin Club. Gloria was an avid golfer, bowler, and reader; and enjoyed being a member of Keosippi Kickers. In addition to being a world-wide traveler, Gloria loved doing things closer to home, such as playing bridge, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Gloria is survived by her son Gary (Virginia) Edwards of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; her two daughters: Janet (Jerry) Trimble of Davenport and Judith (Don) Nagel of Keokuk; seven grandchildren and twelve great-granchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 2nd, 2015, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau Street with Pastor Rodney Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1st at DeJong-Greaves, from 4 to 8 PM, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Keokuk.
