John Andrew Lawrence

John A. Lawrence, 86, of Maquoketa, and formerly of Oxford Junction, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. A funeral mass celebrating John's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prairieburg, Iowa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is in charge of the arrangements. John Andrew Lawrence was born on November 13, 1928 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, to John A. and Beatrice M. "Blanche" (Rula) Lawrence. He married Germaine C. (Goettsch) Skoff on November 29, 2003 in Maquoketa, Iowa. John had farmed in the rural Lost Nation area in Clinton County for 36 years until retiring and moving to Maquoketa. John was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. He enjoyed music, fishing, doing odd jobs, welding and carpentry work.
