Alfred E. Rittman, 88, of Naples, FL, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015. Born December 25, 1926, in Seymour, IN, he was the son of Albert F. and Luella (Hackman) Rittman. On September 7, 1952, he married Mary Lou Nolting. Prior to moving to Naples in 1990, Mr. Rittman was a farmer for 50 years. After moving to Florida he became a realtor and was active in real estate for another 10 years. Mr. Rittman was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Naples and was an Elder for several years then becoming an Emeritus Elder. Mr. Rittman was a member of the American Legion # 135 of Naples, FL, and the VFW # 7721 of Golden Gate, Fl. He had been a member of the VFW Ritual Team. Mr. Rittman was a service connected veteran of World War II. He took his basic training at Camp Walters in Texas. His company was trained for the Invasion of Japan, but because Japan surrendered, he was sent to Europe with the 3rd Infantry Outfit. He was in the Honor Guard, meeting with dignitaries from the US that were sent to Europe. He spent a year in Berlin and was discharged in 1946. He is survived by his children: Michael (Debra) Rittman, Tina (Don) Espiritu, Grandchildren: Tiffany (Todd) East, Nathan (Jamie) Rittman, Michelle (Rowe) Hudson, Mary (Sebastian) Saitta: Great Grandchildren : Kelian and Kelis East, and Anna and Sara Hudson; Step Great Grandchildren Jessy Chaney and Jake Cope and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Kruse. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 11:00 am with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and from the church on Saturday, 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour, IN, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
