George W. Knute, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. He was born December 2, 1937 in Green Bay to Adam George and Anastasia (Ryan) Knute. On July 16, 1960, he married Jean Sigl at St. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church in Flintville. George served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959. He was employed at Red Owl Warehouse for 30 years. He then worked for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2000. George is survived by two daughters, Lynn Knute and her husband Paul LeRoy, and Julie (William) Froelich and their children Ben and Ellen; one son, Brian and special friend, Brenda Nichols and her children, Andrew and Austin; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean, on January 4, 2000; his parents and two brothers, John Edward and Peter Michael. Visitation will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida Street, on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with the Rev. John H. Sherman and the numerous health care providers for their comfort and care of our father. Our father was very loving, charming and resourceful, generous, kind, funny and uncomplaining. By enlisting family, he learned to cope and manage better in his later years. His famous expression, of which was so very characteristic, was his saying of "10-4". We know he wanted us to go on rather than hover over him. Dad "10-4", we all love you.
