MABEL M. SCHANEN (Formerly Lesch)
Mrs. Mabel Schanen, of Lake Street in Port Washington, passed away at Season's Hospice in Waukesha Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2015, at the age of 83. Mabel was born in Port Washington on June 5, 1932, daughter of John and Edna Tuttle Rismeyer. She attended local schools and graduated from Port Washington High School. On February 9, 1952 Mabel was united in marriage with Ervin E. Lesch in Crown point, IN. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their daughter, Linda. Ervin preceded her in death on April 22, 2004. Mabel later married Francis Schanen in July of 2006. He preceded her in death by one day. Mrs. Schanen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington. She loved animals - especially parrots and cats- and enjoyed gardening. Mabel is survived by her daughter Linda (Peter) Peltier of Vadnais Heights, MN, three grandsons: Ted (Samantha), Peter and Nick Peltier, all of Vadnais Heights, MN, stepdaughters Shawn (Lance) Johnson and Holly (the late Robert) Schanen, step-grandson Josey Schanen, all of Grafton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends . well as two sisters: Hazel Budrick and Ethel Fusher. A graveside service is planned for a later date at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, where she will be laid to rest beside her first husband.
