Harold Leonard Moss

Harold Moss, 88, of Eagle Grove, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Rotary Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Rev. Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Harold Leonard Moss, son of Lars and Marie Holland Moss, was born June 23, 1927 at Kanawha. He received his education in the Eagle Grove area. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the United States Navy serving on the U.S.S. Bougainville Aircraft Courier. On September 13, 1946 he was united in marriage to Rosalie Smedley and the couple farmed near Goldfield. The couple moved around to various locations - Colorado, California, Fort Dodge, and Eagle Grove before settling in Webster City in 1963. Rosalie died in 1976. Harold worked for 20+ years at Electrolux, retiring in 1991. On November 22, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sarah Willman. The couple resided in Webster City and for many years wintered in Texas. Webster City; Kenneth (Shauna) Moss of Centennial, CO; Dennis (Diane) Moss of Blackwell, OK; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Skadburg of Eagle Grove; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his wives; daughter, Marsha Moss Toftee; his parents; brothers, Olaf, Palmer, Martin, and Orville Moss; and sister, Mildred Edwards. Harold was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City; American Legion Posts #191; UAW; and VFW Fort Dodge. He loved camping and wintering in Texas and enjoyed the company of great friends.
