Lee Emerson Gingery, the son of Lewis Francis Gingery and Grace Haines Gingery, was born at Rushville, Missouri on October 17, 1922 and entered into rest on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Fair Oaks Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 92. Lee spent his early years in Rushville, Missouri. He served his country with the United States Army Air Corps, where he survived 26 combat missions as a B17 crew member from 1943-1945. He entered the University of Missouri School of Journalism and graduated in 1951. On August 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Jones at St. Joseph, Missouri. After their marriage they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, moving to Shenandoah in 1960. Lee worked from 1947-1959 for Modern Handcraft in Kansas City, moving to Shenandoah where he worked for Henry Field Seed & Nursery Company from 1960-1983. Lee was a former member of Gashland Community Church and presently a member of the Shenandoah Presbyterian Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lee was preceded in death by his father and mother L.F. Gingery and Grace Haines Gingery, brother Loudon Gingery and a sister Letha Fern Watmore. Survivors include his beloved wife Virginia of Shenandoah; daughter, Lynn Gingery Binegar and husband Dave of Davenport, IA., son, Scott Gingery and wife Janet of Yorktown, VA.; daughter Laura Stephens of Council Bluffs, IA; granddaughters, Lisa (Chris) Caddle, Erika Binegar, Kelsey Binegar, Megan Gingery; nephews David Gingery, Louis Watmore, Donald Watmore; niece Barbara Watmore other relatives and a host of friends In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Public Library or the First Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa.
