Donald E. Horner, 88, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at his home in Hampton, with his family by his side. He was born on October 19, 1926, in Faulkner, Iowa, to Charles and Creola (Wigner) Horner. Don attended school in rural Geneva, where he met and later married Arlene Abbas on May 24, 1946, in Geneva, Iowa. Don farmed until he retired and then enjoyed helping his son. Don was very active with the Pony Express and was president of the Ileostomy Support Group, helping many others adjust to the disease. Don loved painting and was most proud of his mural at the Latimer Country Club, where he played regularly and was at one time a board member.
He is survived by his daughter Becky Windle of The Villages, Florida, son Scot Horner of Geneva, daughter Janeen (Scott) Berrier of Leland, daughter Robin (Kevin) Borrill of Clear Lake, grandchildren Angela (Spencer Braly) Horner, Carrie (Aaron) Larson, Sarah Horner, Sidney Borrill and Selena Borrill, great-grandchildren Caytlyn Larson, Coby Larson, Keisel Larson, Kasey Larson, Olivia Braly and Lane Braly.
