Joe T. Harris

Mr. Joe Tony Harris, 72, of Burlington, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington. Mr. Harris was born October 19, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Clyde and Nola Bodwell Harris. On January 18, 1986, he married Sandra Anderson Taylor at their home in Burlington. He served stateside in the Army. Mr. Harris was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and of the Christian faith. Mr. Harris was a security guard at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, he was always ready for a good cup of coffee, and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Iowa AF & AM #28, and Local Guards Union #22. He is survived by his wife of Burlington; one son, Mitch (Juli) Taylor of Burlington; two daughters, Myra (Dave) Bruegger of Burlington and Melinda Taylor of Davenport; six grandchildren; one sister, Molly Kaldenberg of Memphis, Missouri; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Charles, one sister-in-law Linda, one brother-in-law Herald, and two nephews.
