Sara E. Long

Sara E. Long, 86 of Fort Washington, PA died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the Fort Washington Estates. Born in Tamaqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (nee Harakal) Heffelfinger. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter E. Long in 1997. Sara was employed by Montgomery County as a Register of Wills for 14 years until her retirement in 2000. Mrs. Long was a member of Ambler Kiwanis, Ambler Community Ambulance, Fort Washington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Montgomery County Juvenile Prison Board, and Ken-Crest Services. She was a Republican Committee Chairwoman for Upper Dublin Township. Sara was named the Upper Dublin Township Citizen of the Year in 1988. Sara is survived by her devoted children Judy A. Sparango and her husband Frank of Salfordville, PA; Beverly A. Norton and late husband Wayne of Media, PA; Michelle A. Smith and husband Bob of Ambler, PA and Todd W. Long and his wife Barbara of Towanda, PA. She is the loving grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 8. She is also survived by her brother Robert Heffelfinger of Levittown, PA.
