Clarence "Mike" Morton Jensen, son of Morton and Maren (Dahl) Jensen, was born on January 11, 1926, on a farm near Neola, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1943. On November 17, 1945, Mike enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Ord, California. While in the military, Mike served as a rifleman. He was honorably discharged on March 8, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, having attained the rank of Private First Class. After returning from the military, Mike made his home near Minden. It was there, at a restaurant that he met his future wife, Louise. On June 6, 1950, Mike was united in marriage to Louise Ruth Parr in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union: Michael, Jerry and Bruce. After their wedding, Mike and Louise made their home in Oakland and Walnut before moving south of Minden where they began farming. Mike continued to farm for ten years before he became the manager of the local lumber yard for twenty years. He then began working at Tri Center School as a custodian. onths to be closer to their son, Michael and his family. In 2008, Mike and Louise moved back to Iowa and made their home in Algona to be closer to their son, Bruce and his family. Mike and Louise enjoyed traveling together and also enjoyed traveling with the Shelby County State Bank Commanders Club. They have seen many places including: Washington, DC; Hawaii; Alaska; New York; Niagara Falls; California; Nova Scotia; and New Brunswick. Clarence Morton Jensen of West Bend, formerly of Minden, died Monday October 26, 2015 at the West Bend Care Center at the age of 89. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Linda) Jensen, Jerry (Paula) Jensen and Bruce (Cindi) Jensen; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Jeanette Swenson. Clarence was preceded in death by parents; his wife of sixty years, Louise Jensen; brothers, Andrew, Ernie, Leonard, Elmer and Frode Jensen and his sisters-in-law, Minnie, Berdine, Virginia, Laverta and Melba Jensen.
