CARL THEOBALD MUSCATINE, Iowa - Carl F. Theobald, 85, of Muscatine, died on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at his home. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Cauley will officiate. Military Honors provided by the squads of the American Legion Post #27 and V.F.W. Post #1565 immediately following the service at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Per Carl's wishes his body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, in care of Betty, in Carl's name. Carl was born on December 13, 1929, in Muscatine, the son of William F. and Pearl White Theobald. He married Betty J. Foster on October 7, 1950, in Muscatine at Carl's parent's home. Carl was a graduate of Muscatine High School, Class of 1948. He worked at Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist, for 30 plus years retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the US Marine Corp Air Wing. He had been a member of Izaak Walton League and the NRA and a charter member of the Moose Lodge for 50 years. ...[more]

loved trapshooting and bow hunting deer and fishing. Carl enjoyed traveling out west with his wife, hunting, camping and being outdoors. He also enjoyed his grandchildren. Those left to honor his memory include wife, Betty J. Theobald of Muscatine; five children, Steven J. Theobald and wife, Mary, Michael R. Theobald and wife, Leanne, and Carla J. Smith and husband, Bill, all of Muscatine, James D. Theobald and wife, Paulette, of Wilton, and John F. Theobald and wife, Teresa, of Wapello; seven grandchildren, Jason, Jay, Travis, Marcie, Andy, Geoff, and Jane; six great grandchildren, Kassie, Mia, Zoe, Hyde, Hudson and Hendrix; one sister, Elsie Hall of Arkansas; and his dog, Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bert Beverly; and one sister, Vera Carlisle.
