James H. Chaney, 87, Hampton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. He was born December 20, 1927, in Hampton, Iowa to Pearl Bowers. He graduated from Sheffield High School in Sheffield, Iowa. James was united in marriage on July 22, 1948, in Nashua, Iowa to Jean Richtsmeier. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. James worked as a mechanic, police officer and he owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station in Hampton. He was a member of the VFW and Hampton Senior Center. James enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was an inspiration to his family, neighbors and friends. He enjoyed traveling and just being outdoors. He is where he wanted to be, back with mom hand in hand. He is survived by his son Dennis (Becky) Chaney of Spooner, Wisconsin, son Randy (Julie) Chaney of Hampton, son Craig (Deb) Chaney of Hampton, daughter Shelly (Todd) Ploski of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren.
