Annette Morrison Luckow

Born Oct. 26, 1922, in Columbus, WI. Graduated from Columbus High School. Attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Received a BA and MA from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She also did graduate work at George Washington University in Washington DC and the University of Birmingham at Stratford-on-Avon in England. She taught English and Speech in Norwalk, WI; Lancaster, WI; Beaver Dam, WI; and from 1948 to 1962, in West Milwaukee High School, where she also was the director of dramatics. She loved all her students and with some became lifelong friends. In 1962, she married Melvin "Dick" Luckow of West Milwaukee, big game hunter and owner of Valley Sand and Gravel Co. They and their children traveled extensively until his death in 1983. In West Milwaukee, she was on the Civil Service Board and the Board of Appeals. From 1948 to 1998 she played violin in the Festival City Symphony. She was a West Allis Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. (Jeanne) Luckow; grandchildren Lillian "Lilly" and Hugh Church, and Kristen "Kricket" and Taylor Luckow; step-daughters Diane (Dr. Robert) Marrold and Elaine (James) McGrady; step-grandchildren Linda, Ginger, and Richard McGrady, Deborah (Chad) Phillips, Dr. Ben Boldt; step-great-grandchildren Haley, Ruby and Sarah Boldt, and Jack and Harrison Phillips; two sisters Mary Ekvall of WIldwood, FL and Beth (Lester) Affeldt of Madison, WI; nieces Lisa Beekman of Randolph, WI, Beth Ann Affeldt of Libertyville, IL, Laura (Brian) Snyder of Sun Prairie, WI, Sue (Jerry) Snow of Deland, FL; nephews Dr. William (Mary) Ekvall of El Paso, TX, and David (Rosemary) Ekvall of Cedarburg, WI -- all of whom she loved dearly as her own; and friends. Annette's greatest joy and happiness were her grandchildren. She said many times that God had blessed her because all of them live in the Milwaukee area. Her other interests were music, bridge, knitting, reading, history, and archeology. Annette loved teaching. She was happy that she often had contact with her former students, some of whom became life long friends. Visitation at IMMANUEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1100 North Astor Street, Milwaukee, on Saturday, November 21, from 1-2:45PM. Funeral Service at 3PM. She will be buried in Hillside Cemetery in Columbus, WI. Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Martin Luther High School's scholarship fund.
