Flag Day Foundation. George loved to serve others, and enjoyed his years at the store working alongside his brother Ralph, volunteering as a Waubeka firefighter, and hanging flags throughout Waubeka for every patriotic holiday. He is survived by his two daughters Sandra (Tom) Blumenberg of Hayward, WI and Marcia (Mike) Gaspari of Batavia, IL, two grandchildren Andrea (Misiel) Valles and Noel Gaspari, and sisters-in-law Esther Maechtle, Margie Peter and Merely Melius. He is further survived by numerous Maechtle, Melius and Peter nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. George is preceded in death by his parents Art and Selma, his wife Iva Mae, his brother Ralph, two brothers-in-law Rollin Peter and Russell Melius, his niece Gloria Maechtle Henkle and his nephew Gabe Peter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 7 PM at Zion United Methodist Church, N1667 Highway 28, Batavia. Pastor Gail Mitchell will preside over the service. George will be laid to rest next to his wife in Zion United Cemetery in Batavia. Visitation for George will take place at the CHURCH on Tuesday, November 24th from 5-7 PM, with a Fire Department walkthrough at 6:30 PM.
