Thomas E. Murray, Sr., age 66 of Horsham PA, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Kathryn (nee O'Connor) Murray. He served in the US Navy from 1972 to 1975. Mr. Murray was a respected Philadelphia Police Officer for 25 years. He retired in 1994 and continued a career as a high school teacher for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He started teaching at Cardinal Dougherty High School, of which he was an alumni and after one year went on to teach at St. Hubert's High School for 12 years and Lansdale Catholic High School for 7 years. Thomas enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially Joe Montana and the 49ers and Notre Dame. He coached his children in their team sports as well. Home improvement projects were squeezed into his busy life, learning as he went along. He loved to read and shop! But it was his family that gave him the most enjoyment and was the focus of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Kathleen Sweeney of Philadelphia, Frances Walker of Norristown, Mary Murray Schmidt of Lafayette Hill, Joseph Murray of Warminster, Carol Murray of North Wales, and Francis Murray of Kennesaw, GA and John McDonnell of Southampton, considered by all, a loving member of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler and on Monday, January 4th from 11:30 to 12:15 pm at St. Alphonsus Church,1565 Temple Drive, Maple Glen. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM by the Rev. Thomas M. Sodano Interment will be private.
