Barbara W. Rose

Barbara W. Rose, age 79, of Green Bay, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, January 10, 2016. She was born May 28, 1936, in Green Bay to the late Vern and Winnifred (Meetz) Brereton. Barbara graduated from West High School with the class of 1954. On June 10, 1957, she married the love of her life, Calvin Rose. They loved traveling together to many different destinations, a few being China, Brazil, England, France, and Hawaii. While raising a family and working Barbara volunteered for hospice, which was a new organization at the time. Barbara and Cal were licensed foster parents for many years and fostered over 50 babies. The last 15 years they would snowbird to Fort Myers, Florida for the winter. Throughout Barbara's career as a secretary she worked for several doctor's offices and over 20 years at NWTC. After retirement Barbara enjoyed being a part of Bridge and Book Clubs and also the NWTC luncheon group and a coffee group. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, cross stitching, reading, traveling, volunteering for Love Life, and most of all spending time with her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eleanor (Bob) Kellner; brothers-in-law, Jerry Gauthier, Harold (Shirley) Rose, and Melvin Larsen; and sister-in-law, Ruth Rose. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:45 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2160 Packerland Drive, Green Bay, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Leon Ehlert officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
