Katherine S. (Knuth) Beaver, 57, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at a Sioux City hospital after a multiyear battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Riverside's Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa with Father Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will begin at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1431 W. 29th Street in South Sioux City, Nebraska on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. with the family present, and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. She grew up on a family farm near Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, attending a country grammar school and Bishop Newman High School in Wahoo, Nebraska. She moved to Yankton, South Dakota and attended Mount Marty College, graduating with degrees in Microbiology and Music. A North America for 30 years, serving in the Quality Control Dept. She and Jerry were long time members of Sacred Heart Parish. Katherine was an active leader in the Woodbury Westsiders 4-H Club in Sioux City and supported Woodbury County 4-H for many years. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Beaver of Sioux City; sons, Eric (Colleen) of Chicago, IL and Christopher of Sioux City; father, Chester Knuth of Cedar Bluffs, NE; brothers, John (Sharon) Knuth of Omaha, NE, James (Meg) Knuth of Lincoln, NE, and Robert (Mary) Knuth of Orono, MN; sisters, Mary Ellen (Jerry) Specht of Wahoo, NE and Margaret (Mario) Sudik Knuth Machado Carillo of Spain. She was preceded in death by her mother.
