Frank Robert Decker
WINONAFrank Robert Decker, 56 of Winona, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Lake Winona Manor.
Frank was born April 15, 1958 in Winona to LaVerne and Julianna (Gable) Decker. He attended school in Winona and worked at the Winona Daily News for over 20 years and later at ORC. Frank lived with his "Dear Mother" and cared for her in her senior years until he became ill in June 2013. He then lived with loving foster parents, Heather Angell, Troy Howland, Linda Angell, and Jim Sanford in Rochester during his cancer treatment. In June of 2014, he moved back to Winona and lived independently in his own apartment with the help of friends and family. Frank loved collecting radios, televisions, and any type of electronics. He enjoyed going to garage sales and listening to classical music and talk radio.
He is survived by his mother, Julianna Hungerholt; sisters, Christine Berg and Rita (Don) Brandes; nephews, Jeremy (Stephanie) Berg, Joe Brandes, and John (Susan) Lien; nieces, Lisa (Larry) Meyer, and Stephanie Brandes; special friends, Gwendolyn Countryman, Carrie & Bill Frank, Jerry Arnold, Trisha Berg, and Corey Guyer. The family prefers memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview and also one hour prior to the service. Funeral will be 11am, Monday, September 8 at the funeral home, led by Funeral Celebrant Brittany Horton. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
