Richard K. Boyle, 74, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the church. Cremation will follow the services and a private burial will be held at a later date. Richard Kenneth Boyle was born on May 2, 1941 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Kenneth Sherman and Louise Elvira (Hansen) Boyle. He grew up in Humboldt and attended school through the 8th grade. He then moved to Eaton, Colorado where he graduated from Eaton High School. He married Carolyn Jean Helvick on April 18, 1960 in Blue Earth, Minnesota and to this union three children were born: Deanna, Tim and Randy. Richard had worked for PAMIDA in various locations as an assistant manager and manager for several years. In 1977, PAMIDA transferred him to Maquoketa where he and Carolyn made their home. Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and had been to five bowl games. He loved spending time with his family and visiting Lake Okoboji and Colorado. Those left to honor Richard's memory include his wife, Carolyn Boyle of Maquoketa, IA; children Deanna (Brian) Tabor of Baldwin, IA, Dr. Tim Boyle of Marshfield, WI and Randy (Laurie) Boyle of Denver, CO; a brother Greg (Jane) Boyle of Marshalltown, IA; and 7 granddaughters, Allison, Emmalee, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Sarah, Darrah and Emery. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Richard K. Boyle memorial fund has been established.
