Dolores Delgado

Dolores Delgado, age 104, of Whiting died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at home. Born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, she lived there until coming to the United States on the ship "Marine Tiger" in 1947, settling in New York City. She lived in New York City and in Miami Beach, FL for many years. Mrs. Delgado was a seamstress, and owned a store that sold clothing that she handmade with employees. She was a longtime member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and was a local chairwoman in the 1950's. She was predeceased by her husband, Jaime; her daughter, Ana M. Rodriguez; her sisters, Josefina Garcia-Medina, Asuncion Garcia-Medina, Teresa Garcia-Medina, and Ramona Garcia-Medina; and her brothers, Juan Garcia-Medina, Antonio Garcia-Medina, Andres Garcia-Medina, and Luis Garcia-Medina. Surviving are her children, Esther Maria Calero of Manalapan, Jaime Claudio of Hamilton, and Edna Artanis of Florida; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-9 pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Funeral services will be held at 7:30pm at the funeral home.
